This Greek layer dip is inspired by a recipe given to me by an acquaintance from a long time ago. It's a Greek version of a traditional 7-layer dip with the best flavors of Greece in dip form. Creamy hummus, and tangy cream cheese and lots of fresh veggies and cheese. So delicious!

🩷 What you'll love about this recipe

▪️This appetizer recipe is easy to make ahead of time so you won't be stuck in the kitchen at your party or event.

▪️If you love Greek food and flavors, this dip is for you. It's easy to customize with your favorite veggies and cheese. See below for variation and substitution ideas.

▪️This recipe is easy to make in larger batches if you need to. Just double or triple everything, and place in a larger pan or dish.

🥘 Recipe Ingredients

You’ll need the following ingredients to make this amazing Greek layer dip.

Greek layer dip ingredients

📝 Ingredient Notes

  • Italian seasoning dressing packet - I know it sounds weird to use Italian dressing in a Greek dip recipe, but trust me. It gives it an extra something that just makes it extra delicious!
  • hummus - plain is what I prefer to use.
  • Greek seasoning - any seasoning you can find will work. The kind I prefer to use is Cavender's All Purpose Greek seasoning, but I was not able to find it this time.
  • cucumber - I like to use the English cucumbers that come wrapped up. The skin is much softer and it has much smaller seeds.
  • feta cheese - block or crumbled is fine.

📋 How to Make Greek 7 Layer Dip Step-By-Step

💡 Recipe Tips

Tip 1: If you're unable to find Greek seasoning in your store, you can use Greek inspired or Mediterranean flavored hummus instead.

Tip 2: If you also can't find Greek flavored hummus, you can make your own Greek seasoning.

Confidence Tip

This recipe can be made up to a day in advance. Just store in a covered dish in the refrigerator, until ready to serve.

🫙 Storage & Reheating

Storage: Store this in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.

Freezing: This recipe is not good for freezing, due to the cheeses and fresh vegetables.

🧂Additions & Substitutions

Additions and/or Substitutions: These can all be added or swapped out to make it your own!

  • rinsed and drained canned garbanzo beans (or chickpeas)
  • non-dairy cream cheese and non-dairy feta cheese - to make this vegan
  • red onions
  • green, yellow or red bell peppers
  • chopped zucchini (small pieces)
  • other varieties of olives
  • pepperoncini peppers
  • pita bread instead of pita chips
  • fresh herbs, such as fresh dill or fresh parsley
  • artichoke hearts
  • grape tomatoes or cherry tomatoes

❓Your questions answered

What is 7 Layer Greek Dip?

This dip is a variation on the traditional 7 layer dip, which is usually flavored as a Mexican or taco dip. This layer greek dip switches out the Mexican flavors for those of Greece and the mediterranean.
