🩷 What you'll love about this Jerk Chicken Pasta recipe
▪️Making this at home is definitely a money saver! While you do have to obviously purchase all of the ingredients, you'll get many more servings than what you would get at the restaurant.
▪️You can control what ingredients are used. You can opt for all organic ingredients, if that is what you prefer. You can control the seasonings, salt, etc.
▪️You don't have to leave the house and get dressed up! I know sometimes, this is nice, but sometimes, you just don't want to!
🥘 Recipe Ingredients
You’ll need the following ingredients to make this amazing Caribbean flavored veggie-loaded pasta with jerk-style chicken breasts.
📝 Ingredient Notes
- Jamaican jerk seasoning - you can use whatever brand you like. A restaurant local to me had the best jerk chicken wings I've ever had (besides in Jamaica) and I found out what they used. It was the McCormick Caribbean Jerk Seasoning. I could only find it in this giant size, but I had to have it. I find it to be the perfect blend of heat and seasoning. It's delicious. If you can't find the dry jerk seasoning, Jamaican jerk marinade will also work.
- Boneless chicken breasts - boneless, skinless chicken thighs are a great substitute if you want extra flavor
- Parmesan cheese - to get the best flavor, I like to shred my own cheese from a wedge of Parmesan. The shaker can of cheese will work, but I don't always love the gritty texture it can give in a cream sauce.
- Pasta - I like to use bow tie pasta for this recipe, as it does a great job of holding onto the cream sauce in the crevices. You can use any pasta that you like if you don't have bow ties. Ridged penne pasta or rigatoni are other good options.
📋 How to Make Bahama Breeze Jerk Chicken Pasta Step-By-Step
Here are some visual instructions. Full instructions with exact ingredients can be found in the Recipe Card below.
Step 1: Pound chicken breasts to an even thickness. I like to cover them with plastic wrap to keep any mess from pounding contained. Sprinkle both sides of the chicken with about 1 tablespoons of jerk seasoning. Sauté chicken in a non-stick skillet until browned on both sides and cooked through, with an internal temperature of 165°F. Remove from skillet and let rest.
Step 2: Add heavy cream to a medium sized pot and warm over medium heat. To the warmed cream, add cream cheese, butter and garlic powder.
Step 3: Add salt and black pepper, and shredded Parmesan cheese. Whisk until cream cheese, butter and Parmesan cheese are all melted, and all ingredients are thoroughly combined.
Step 4: Cook pasta in a large pot according to package directions, until it is al dente (firm to the bite). Slice cooked chicken breast into strips.
Step 5: Add olive oil and minced garlic to a large skillet over medium to medium-high heat. Be careful to ensure you don't burn the garlic. It will become bitter. After garlic is soft and slightly brown, add sliced fresh mushrooms and chopped fresh asparagus. Cook for 4-5 minutes until slightly soft. You don't want to over cook the asparagus, as it will get mushy.
Step 6: Pour cream sauce into cooked veggies. Add cooked pasta and stir all together until all pasta and vegetables are covered with the cream sauce.
Step 7: Place sliced chicken breast on top of the pasta and veggies, and serve your delicious meal!
💡 Recipe Tips
Tip 1: The chicken for this recipe can alternately be cooked on a grill or in an air-fryer.
Tip 2: Jerk seasoning can be spicy for some people. If you don't know your guests tolerance level on spicy foods, make a couple chicken breasts with less seasoning or just plain. This recipe is easy to adhere to various spice level tolerances, and this is the best way to ensure all of your guests can enjoy your meal.
Confidence Tip
A lot of this can be made ahead if you need to save time. Make the sauce, and sautéed veggies in advance and store in separate airtight containers. Both can be reheated. I would make the chicken and pasta at the time you want to eat the meal.
🫙 Storage & Reheating
Storage: Store the leftover jerk chicken pasta dish in an airtight container in the fridge for 3 days.
Reheating: Reheat in the microwave or over low heat on the stove. Cream sauces do not really reheat very well when added to pasta. The sauce may separate and become oily. You want to try to reheat on low heat and may need to add a few drops of heavy cream to try to keep the cream from separating.
Freezing: I don't recommend freezing this meal. Freezing and then reheating a cream sauce will not produce the same results.
🧂Additions & Substitutions
Additions:
- Extra protein - large shrimp or smoked sausage are other options that I think work well in this dish.
- Extra vegetables - any veggies you like - green onions, zucchini, peas, spinach, whatever you wish.
- For an extra kick, add a little of the Jamaican jerk seasoning into the parmesan cream sauce.
Substitutions:
- Change out the protein for any other that you prefer. Shrimp, scallops, pork filet, steak.
- If you're vegetarian, sauté the veggies in the jerk seasoning and leave out the meat. Or, season extra-firm tofu with the jerk seasoning and add in place of the chicken.
- If you don't like mushrooms or asparagus, replace with any and all of your favorite veggies.

Bahama Breeze Jerk Chicken Pasta (Copycat Recipe)
Ingredients
- 1 pound boneless skinless chicken breast
- 2 tablespoons Jamaican Jerk seasoning blend
Parmesan Cream Sauce
- 12 ounces heavy whipping cream
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 ounces cream cheese
- ¾ cup Parmesan cheese shredded
- 1½ teaspoons garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 2 cups fresh asparagus cut into 2-3 inch pieces
- 8 ounces button or cremini mushrooms cleaned and sliced
- 8 ounces bow tie pasta
- fresh Parmesan cheese for topping pasta
Instructions
- If chicken breasts are large, cut in half lengthwise. Pound chicken breasts to an even thickness (about ¼ inch thick.) Season with Jamaican jerk seasoning.
- The chicken breasts can be cooked on a grill, in an air-fryer or seared in a hot skillet with some olive oil. Cook chicken to an internal temperature of 165°F. Let chicken rest for at least 10 minutes before slicing. Slice into thin strips diagonally. Set aside.
- Add all sauce ingredients into a medium-sized sauce pan. Heat until butter, cream cheese and Parmesan cheese are melted and sauce reduces slightly (approximately 10 minutes). If you want an extra kick in this dish, add a dash or two of the Jamaican Jerk seasoning to the cream sauce in this step.
- While sauce is cooking, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium high heat. Sauté garlic until brown. Keep an eye on the garlic to ensure it does not burn, as it will become bitter. Add asparagus and mushrooms and sauté until tender. About 4-5 minutes.
- Also, while sauce is cooking, cook pasta in a large pot according to the package directions. Make sure not to overcook the pasta as it will become mushy. Cook to al dente (firm to the bite).
- When pasta is cooked, drain and add back to the pot. Add cooked asparagus and mushrooms, and parmesan cream sauce. Heat until all is hot and mixed thoroughly together. Taste for seasoning, and add additional salt and black pepper as needed.
- Add pasta to serving dish and top with sliced chicken and more fresh grated Parmesan cheese.
Notes
- Extra protein - large shrimp or smoked sausage are other options that I think work well in this dish.
- Extra vegetables - any veggies you like - green onions, zucchini, peas, spinach, whatever you wish.
- For an extra kick, add a little of the Jamaican jerk seasoning into the parmesan cream sauce.
