What goes into this recipe
Have I mentioned how EASY this is to make. It only takes FIVE total ingredients! Only FIVE!
Dark chocolate, cream, egg yolks, butter and sugar. That's it! No garbage or chemical-filled foods.
Step by step instructions
Heat cream in a medium saucepan until hot, but not boiling.
Add sugar to the hot cream and stir with a whisk to blend.
Remove pan from the heat and let cool for one minute.
Add chocolate and stir with a whisk until melted.
Add egg yolks and stir with a whisk until blended.
Add butter and stir with a whisk until blended.
Pour chocolate into small glass jars, ramekins or espresso cups. These espresso cups are perfect for this dessert.
Refrigerate until set and firm. Sprinkle powdered sugar on top and serve with fresh berries.
Expert Tips
- Make sure to use whipping cream and not heavy whipping cream. Heavy whipping cream has more fat, and can make the dessert too heavy tasting.
- When choosing a chocolate for this recipe, make sure it's a dark chocolate with 60% or more cacao. I like to use this brand for baking.
- Wait just until serving before topping with powdered sugar and fresh fruit. If you do it in advance, the powdered sugar may "melt" and it just won't look as pretty.
